What is your biggest problem with the JW religion?
by jambon1 inif i had to be tied down i would say disfellowshipping.
totally unnecessary and i really think it spans itself into a lot of other wt policies/mindsets.
"disagree with us and you are a dead man"

Musings of a former elder (retitled from welcome response thread to Oracle)
by SnakesInTheTower incrumpet suggested i retitle this thread so more will notice it.
i take that as a compliment that someone would actually want to read my ramblings.... here is the original post, which was a response to a new poster named oracle:.
my take on point 1: blood transfusions.

Welcome to Fellow Newbie Oracle
by SnakesInTheTower ini posted a new topic so i could expand on some comments without hijacking the hugging 5thgeneration thread.
my take on point 1: blood transfusions.
personally, i still would not accept blood transfusions, but not because of some borg mind control.

Circuit & District Overseers are lazy, busybodies, and shouldn't eat!
by lawrence inpaul wrote to the thessalonians about people who congregations shouldn't feed (not even leftovers) - let the nasty bums, and their uppity nasty wives starve..... for even when we were with you, we commanded you this: "if anyone will not work, neither let him eat.
" 3:11for we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don't work at all, but are busybodies.
3:12now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the lord jesus christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread..

Petition: Tell Museums to Stop Hiding Watchtower's Past
by rebel8 inplease sign this petition: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/watchtower-hitler/ .
tell holocaust memorial museums all over the world they should stop hiding the truth about the watchtower societys decades-long anti-semitic/pro-hitler stance.
while individual jehovahs witnesses were suffering at the hands of the nazis, its mother organization was outspokenly supporting hitler and demeaning jews.

Going door to door to recruit members doesn't work
by JH inwhen you look at all the hours they do going door to door world wide and then you look at how many hours preaching it takes to bring just 1 person to their organization, it's not efficient.. my mom goes to a baptist church now, and i was surprised to know that 500 go to that meeting on sundays and they don't go door to door to go get these people.. there might be 80 witnesses at my hall and going door to door doesn't make much of a difference.
maybe it's even counter productive since people don't like being pested at home..

The facts on crucifixion, stauros, and the "torture stake"
by Leolaia infinally, i will look at biblical and patristic evidence bearing on the crucifixion of jesus in particular.
we need to examine the earliest known descriptions of the kind of crucifixion adopted by the romans and the specific terms they used to refer to it.
apparently the society believes that crux still meant "stake" in the second century a.d., when tacitus composed his annals.
